We are incredibly proud of all our students, past and present and are delighted to share in the success of many ex-students, who have furthered their training at University or Drama School and carved out successful careers in the Performing Arts as performers, directors, designers and teachers.

I started Tolethorpe Youth Drama in 2005. After my early years I was taught by Mary and finally, TYD’s President, Carol King. I remember doing some fantastic performances in the Orangery, the Rutland Open Air Theatre and at Stamford Arts Centre. One of my favourite pieces was The History Boys directed by Carol. I will also never forget the fun we had devising Lost, directed by Mary telling the story of school kids stranded on a trip to a haunted manor. During my time I enjoyed the different dance numbers created by Rachel. Remembering, in particular, numbers we performed from The Lion King and Moulin Rouge always bring a smile to my face! In 2013, I was awarded the Joyce Windsor Cup, which was a great honour. Unfortunately, after many happy years, the time did come when I was too old to stay and I graduated.
I was very lucky to be able to gain a place on the foundation course in Musical Theatre at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts starting in September 2014 where I completed a year of intensive training in singing, acting and dancing.
Following on from that, I was accepted into The Urdang Academy to study a BA (Hons) Degree in Professional Dance and Musical Theatre, studying for three years. I graduated in July 2018 with a 2:1. Some of my credits whilst training include Sister Act (Joey), Made In Dagenham (Monty), Shrek (Pinocchio), Flight (Featured Vocalist) and Chandelier (Featured Vocalist). One of my biggest achievements during my training was being asked to take part in a charity concert of The Color Purple playing at Cadogan Hall. I was so thrilled to be able to play The Guard and Ensemble alongside the leading actors who have played, or are currently appearing in, principal roles in Dreamgirls, Hamilton, Jesus Christ Superstar and Heathers.
Before graduating, I was offered a contract to work in Disneyland Paris for six months as part of their character and parade performance department which I happily accepted. Before leaving for my Paris adventure I also signed as a client with Russell Smith Associates, a London-based agency for all areas of performing who I am very excited to work with when I return to the UK in early January 2019.
My time at TYD will stay with me forever as I felt so lucky to have trained in such a beautiful building and with wonderful teachers who were so full of knowledge and passion for performing. Without the skills they taught me and the experiences they helped to create I would not be where I am today. Leaving with all this knowledge and passion I was excited for what the future had to bring!
