Amazing NEW Workshop & Performance Opportunities for 5 to 16-year-olds

This July and August, Tolethorpe Youth Drama are launching a brand-new exciting SUMMER ARTS FESTIVAL in the stunning setting of Tolethorpe Hall.

This is a hugely exciting and ambitious project, taking place in the holidays, which will run alongside the renowned Stamford Shakespeare Company season of shows and will see budding actors, directors, designers and creative youngsters pour in to have the summer of their lives.

There will be three tailor-made week-long workshops taking place over the course of the two week festival.

Week 1 - professional workshops week

Monday 29th July to Friday 2nd August

9.00am to 4.00pm

8 to 16-year-olds (participants will be divided according to age and experience)

Cost for the week £145

Throughout the course of this week and under the guidance of our highly trained staff, participants will meet and work with an incredible list of visiting industry professionals from the world of Theatre, Film and TV.

They will practice stage combat, learn how to create a character through dance, work in front and behind TV cameras, take part in a show stopping musical theatre workshop, be directed by a professional feature film director, research, design and make their own costumes, have a backstage tour of our spectacular theatre, receive a complimentary ticket to one of the Tolethorpe shows* and a free TYD T-shirt.

Week 1 - magical forest performance adventure

Monday 29th July to Friday 2nd August

9.00am to 3.00pm

5 to 7-year-olds  

Cost for the week £125

We have a very special week-long workshop lined up for younger children.

During the course of this week, children will take inspiration from and explore our stunning grounds, gardens and theatre to create a magical forest show which they will perform to parents and friends on the final day.

They will learn about stagecraft, creating characters and bringing stories to life.

Puppetry, music, song, dance and costumes will be used to create a performance based on the story and characters of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

week 2 - perform on our stage

Monday 5th to Friday 9th August

9.00am to 4.00pm

8 to 16-year-olds (participants will be divided according to age and experience)

Cost for the week £145

This week, we are offering participants the rare and exciting opportunity to create their own show which will be performed on one of the incredible sets used in this year’s Stamford Shakespeare Company season. 

Participants will learn first-hand the thrill of performing on a professional set in a 600 seat  open-air theatre. They will have the opportunity to work with our creative team and under the direction of our highly trained and experienced teaching staff.  Stagecraft, vocal technique, character development, movement and physical theatre will be just some of the areas worked on through the course of the week. 

The young performers will also have a backstage tour of our spectacular theatre, receive a complimentary ticket to one of the Tolethorpe shows* and receive a free TYD T-shirt.

Both our Professional Workshop Week and Perform On Our Stage Week have been carefully designed so that participants who wish to do both weeks, will have two different but equally exciting experiences.

*Restrictions apply when booking the complimentary ticket.

Please note our Professional Workshop and Perform on Stage weeks are now sold out and we are no longer taking bookings for these courses.

·         For any enquiries or questions please contact us

·         For bookings you can either fill in our online form or download a document and send this back to us.

·         To secure your child’s place, a non-refundable deposit of £50 must be paid at the time of booking. You will be asked for your payment reference before submitting the form. 

·        You can either send a cheque or pay us via BACS. Details of this will be emailed to you once your booking form has been processed.

·        You will find the details to make your payment on the forms.

·        As our Professional Workshop and Perform On Our Stage weeks are sold out, if you would like to join our waiting list or hear about future holiday workshops drop us a line.

The balance of fees will be due by July 26th 2019.
