Due to an unprecedented response, we have had to stop taking applications for our auditions on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th October.
However, if you are still interested please email us on email@example.com as soon as possible to go on our cancellation list.
We are offering young people aged 16-22 the chance to join a prestigious company of artists and theatre makers and take part in an incredible year-long experience.
The year will culminate in a major production in the 600-seat Rutland Open Air Theatre as part of the 2020 season of productions at Tolethorpe.
Participants will help craft the production from the beginning, work closely with the design and creative team and make theatre that is bold, exciting and inspiring.
Entry to the Theatre Makers Programme is by audition only. Auditions take place mid-October.
Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings from October to June (7-9pm)
There are two intensive rehearsal blocks in the year, three days over the Easter holidays and a two-week intensive in July AFTER SCHOOL EXAMS!
1st - 15th July, 2020
Once the stress of school exams is over, you get to FULLY immerse yourself in making theatre.
This two-week, FULL-TIME intensive period of the year, involves daily rehearsals, followed by the performance of the play from 13th to 15th July at Tolethorpe, as part of the summer season.
You will also help to lead post show workshops with school students during our schools inhouse days, learn and work with a top design and technical team and make like-minded, life-long friends.
If you gain a place on the theatre makers programme, we will work closely and in partnership with your school, to offer you the chance to use your time with us in July as a work experience placement in a working theatre at the height of its season.
TYD Theatre Makers will bring to life this classic and powerful story of a group of school children’s abandonment on a desert island, which gradually descends into a savage fight for survival.
Lord of the Flies has huge relevance to today’s audience and our open-air theatre is the perfect setting upon which to stage an electrifying production of the play.
